New England Road Trip - CMR Travel Journal
Ashley and I mastered the art of the pandemic road trip with a quick trip to New England, with stops in Newport, RI; Nantucket, MA; and Watch Hill, RI. We were up before the sun - and everyone else - every day so we could sightsee with more than enough social distancing.
Our first stop was Newport, where we stayed at the Marshall Slocum Inn, a lovely B&B walking distance to the historic port. From there, it was on to Hyannis for a quick overnight before taking the ferry to Nantucket.
Our best investment of the trip was renting bikes to get around the island. We rode out to Sankaty Head Lighthouse on the other side of the island. After four years in Connecticut for college and nearly five in Maryland, I introduced my fellow Florida girl to the beauty of sweatshirt weather at the beach. In just under 36 hours, we stuffed ourselves with oysters and lobster rolls, biked all over the island, and promised to come back soon.
On our way back to Maryland, we made a quick stop in Watch Hill, RI, which is where Jon and I go every year the week after Labor Day (and where we got engaged!). It’s always nice to visit and enjoy the sun and scenery.
I hope you enjoy some of my favorite snaps from the trip!
This was not a sponsored trip - we carefully selected each activity and hotel/B&B based on safety standards and social distancing. Based on our experience, I would absolutely visit each of these places again!
